Iam staying in Rome for the next ten days or so. Ofc iam going to see a lot of old buildings, do all the classic stuff, eat good food and drink great wine, but what else is there to do in this city? Any cool record shops? Where to chill out in this immense heat? Any good parties? Is it possible to get something relaxing to smoke?
For records, try Goodymusic (Cesare Becaria 2, near Piazza del Popolo), i've found there some italo a few years ago. And Remix (Via del Fiume 8). Try also sunday morning the giant Fleamarket in Porta Portese: IMO, the better place for oldies.
Thanks a lot man! I bought quite a few reasonably priced records at Goody music and at the flea market. Kano, Moroder, Firefly, Jago, Gino Soccio etc etc 
Remix was closed yesterday (national holiday). Will pay it another visit for sure.
Finding Dario Argento's Museum of Horrors was also a pleasant surprise for a notorious b-movie fan

can anybody recommend me a nice and cheap place to stay for mid of October Wednesday to Monday for two persons (me and my 12 year old son).
Can be a backpackers hostel or something but should be central!

booked two beds in a hostel near colosseum...in Esquilino, Via Napoleone III, Cherry Hostel
I hope it's a good choice, at least it is cheap.

fleamarket:
porta portese market (on sundays from 7am to 1pm), piazza di porta portese
hammer gelati (at least here in stuttgart it's the best gelateria):
old bridge gelateria, via bastioni di michelangelo 5 (piazza risorgimento at the vatican)
last time in roma we have been to a super bakery... the pizza there is a dream (think i never had a better one).
have to check on our roma vid how the bakery was called.
