Topic: Gabber

Kicking off on Hardcore. My freind and I were talking about Hardcore and how what teenagers listen to now is really slow and doesn't have the same edge. The popular stuff has vocals and a lack of pounding beats.

Happy Hardcore is still big in the UK with all its derivates through the mighty Donk to more eurodance chart releases.

Is there any good hard dark nasty stuff that would make me want to find a warehouse at 5am.

A paranoid is someone who knows a little of whats really going on.

Re: Gabber

Crystal Distortion is still making records. Maybe have a listen to some of these? Not sure if that's exactly the hardcore you have in mind....

Re: Gabber

Anything coming from the Enzyme camp in Dordrecht, NL is dark, hard and menacing.. Closer to Marc Arcadipane than Mental Theo, if you know what I mean.

This is the more melodious stuff that is popular in NL

Cheers Mangalore, Mensch, Starborough a wide varity of madness on offer. Really Like the Crystal Distortion and French Connection tracks and I now understand the idea of Terrorcore.

Re: Gabber

This was of course THE bigroom belter in the mid nineties:

Basically everything this guy produced in that period (Acardipane & PCP clan) was quality hardcore. I still got tons of them records.

This is one of the latest videos of Rotterdams king of gabber DJ Paul Elstak.. Nice indication of how big the scene still is.. and a cool oldschoolish track with a brutal break.

Re: Gabber

I went through a Hardcore phase in high school circa 1992-1996. To me it's still about the older stuff on Rotterdam

Re: Gabber

@ Starb. It seems that DJ Paul is making it harder then ever. In the nineties he sold out to make the big buck and now he's back to the hard shit.

@ Comm. it still seems amazing to me that the rotterdam gabber shit from the early nineties penetrated all the way to the u.s.. In those days I heard it was popular in Latino gangs and such?

Re: Gabber

not here, we hated it

Re: Gabber

btw, cebteq, you are wrong about the spoiled kids thing.. spoiled kids in nl listen to electro or something trendy. gabber is really hooligan farmer carminded tribal tattoe audience.

Not here in Chicago, as far as the gangs thing but there were many a Latino raver that dug the sound. wink

Maybe in other parts of the US?

Re: Gabber

ilsa gold still crack me up...

funny that the hardcore scene always had something local, like the ilsa gold tracks from vienna (christopher just and another guy btw) often had austrian schlager samples big_smile
this one for example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FzfEUHYfHg

and the rotterdams of course with the usual dutch swearing wink
