Topic: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

I am out of it since last summer and it feels so good.  I was `ebaying` since 2000- believe me, it went all wrong!  hehe - the game goes on at dg`s, but... let`s see.

(sure I made my $$$ at the time, but it is like piss on someone, it makes you not that happy... sometimes)

wink

since ebay - everybody s guilty!

What is "dg"?

Reality is just a simulation

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

it is the place where these late-comers from ebay try to sell their records for lots of money (now). I like discogs much better... hehe.

if anything sux, it's discogs
prices are extremly inflated. the layout and interface have been changing too often in the last couple of month.
and I could not believe it, when they anounced last week they put their seller charges up to 6%  wow -
using a database that was contributed by it's users, and only supplying the platform. Now how rude is that?
e-bay is far from perfect but leaving the whole rekid thing aside, and looking at it from a more local perspective
if you look to sell your car or your baby old cot, it is much cheaper and quicker then the older methods (now
local "Trading Post" type papers will virtualy let you put anything under $500 for free) that's what I see as healthy
competition which worx in favour of the consumer

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

@ el capitan we all have been there wink

they changed the shipping rules
i've sold some records last week, because i just couldn't trade them
when i reached the part were i add shipping costs, the max i could fill in was $ 4.00

tell me if i can sent a rekid from europe to the us for only $ 4.00

a stupid change, why not the same rules and policy for every country?

@e,r go that message too, and what about shipping?
those costs are also going tru the roof, it's not nice anymore for the collector with the small wallet

knew you would say that, hehe. was the same with ebay at the time. I was waiting since months for the change of the seller charges. not surprised about it. I wouldnt say that discogs sux completely. in the end it is a good database to check records. it is a nice idea. now it is a place for sellers, and of course evil prices, hehe
those inflated prices are coming from the ebay craze, everybody is checking only popseek hitparade. smile

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

when selling on discogs i try bypassing them by selecting the option that buyers can propose a price and i write in the desciption that i'm open for trades. most prospective buyers will contact you first asking and then you can deal off of discogs thus saving the fees. the discogs owner screwed us, i say now it's our turn.

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

they still don't charge anything for putting them on their site, only when you sell something
i wonder how long it takes them to do that also, like on ebay

i see lots of people moving from ebay to discogs

so that the fun will be over is just a matter of time

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

discogs is still cheaper than ebay to sell records. and discogs isn't all inflated.. i see also lots of stufdf where seller 1 tries a high price, seller 2 goes a little lower, and seller 3 sets it at a normal price. thats the law of supply and demand for you, you dont have to buy it at high prices. in the end everything is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it..
but that price increase on discogs sucks indeed. at least keep it still the old price for contributors..

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

i see for example loads of italo classics decrease in price.
lots of records that where about 80/100 euro last few years are now getting cheaper even for like 40euro's.
this ofcourse is also caused by recent re-prints.

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

evilbay is doing all to push people away... the lates joke is the MUST of free shipping in some categories on ebay germany (maybe in other countries too)
i use ebay only sometime to sell lots of records, like 60 cheap rec on once... to clean the shelfs...

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

its quite easy to get around that shipping shit on ebay.. just state the real charges and a message that says ''dont pay attention to the shipping calculator'' in your text...

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

i dont think that this is possible on 0euro shipping categories...of course you can try, but the german hilfssherrifs will say it to ebay and they kick u out...

btw...this is not only bad for sellers, even buyers are fucked up... i mean, if a camcorder costs 60euro, it will cost then maybe 65.. if a cable for it cost 3 euro, then maybe 7. and no chance to save money on shipping by buy from one seller.

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

then try selling on another ebay.. holland or austria for example.. i've sold stuff on ebay US when it was better to post certain things there for the better market over there..

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

i am not personally affected by those categories... but for selling in usa there is, and that is what u mean i think, the "3dollar postage and no more rule", yes... and there u r right with write "THIS is the price"
i dont know if i will put something again on ebay.com, as the last few times i have done it (with 80s hip hop rarities) ALL where sold to germans wink

i think discogs is ok when u have time enuff to sell, ebay when it have to go...
(i am ebay member since 2000, discogs since 2002, so what)

i am nevertheless not happy that discogs increase the fee from 5to6%, and say: there are SO many sales now, we have to employ+pay a new admin... hey, the trick is also used by politians who think we are stupid...% are %... more sells, more money, even without more%

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

^ you are right elec, not to many people from the us buy overseas lately
but i always thought when you list on ebay.com you get a wider range.
More hits and better sales.. but that changed now

Re: Am I clean? (the ibej thread)

especially on rare records...real collectors with enuff money search the whole i-net, including ebay worldwide anyway

btw... this site http://www.auction-tracking.de/ says there are MUCH more auctions on ebay germany then on ebay.com...
