Topic: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

Don' really know if this is the right category.

Anyway, does anyone of you have experiences with r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant in Leipzig / Germany to share?
Looking at releasing some vinyl this year with my label buddies from welovetoemerge.de from Berlin.

This seems to be the only pressing plant offering small runs (as low as 100 pieces) at resnoable prices.

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

Well, I don't want to make a commercial for anyone, but they printed 2 of my releases for Home Made Electronica, and I contacted them for some extra stuff later on, got a quick and reasonable offer. It's good quality and fair prices. Also some other labels I know recommended them.

But it never hurts to get multiple offers and then decide, of course.

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

I work with R.A.N.D. over 4 years now, made ten 12"es plus 2 double vinyl albums and I never had to complain anytime. Good service, good prices and the quailty is great. Also communication with those guys is easy.
Highly recommended.

Can anybody compare with Record Industry?

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

Send them an email on Sunday but no reply yet (r.a.n.d. that is)

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

what's their website? pressing plants in the US are backed up beyond hell, our label's always on the lookout for good plants.

no, r.a.n.d. is a smaller pressing plant. you always have to wait long for everything there. too much labels that press there. and if you are not friend with them...you have to wait.  wink

record industry is the ex sony, no? I liked the one pressing we did there. very quick and top quality. NL
but as I said, I am sure Optimal is the better german pressing plant

I've used RAND for a number of my recent projects and I always found them responsive, good prices and great pressings. No problemo here!

Check out Archer Records in Detroit.  The only pressing plant in Detroit.  They've been pressing records for 50 years, it's run by the grandson now.

We used them last year, great product, and I highly doubt they're backed up. Support Detroit, this city needs business!

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

thx carl! that's who is pressing our full length as we speak. they are pretty backed up right now, but very nice people to work with. i was wondering about plants overseas and how it compares to the plants in the US in terms of turn around.

archer were able to press 100 copies for our release show next week, a whole month before the album was slated to go to press which was amazing of them! and it is nice to support detroit for sure! is archer the place ron murphy sent a lot of the detroit techno records to be pressed?

all the MinimalRome releases from MR005 to MR012 were made by Rand Muzik!
And we are going to continue with them.

Yes screenvinylimage, Archer is the place where Ron Murphy sent alot of his records to be pressed. We were fortunate to have Ron Murphy master our record for Archer early last year, right before he passed on. Our's was the
last job that came back from him.

Thanks for all the replies.

Do you think it would be a mistake quality-wise to let the pressing plant handle the laquer cut themselves? like r.a.n.d. offers to cut it. Not sure about the quality.

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

That is pretty normal that the place cuts it

you can make test pressings to have some quality control.
if you deliver good masters they should be able to cut good quality laquers.
i have  no experience with rand though.

we only worked with record industries, they're good.
they cut direct metal masters too, if the program material suits it, it can sound very nice and clear.

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

and the good thing about RI is that you can be there when they do the cutting, not sure if other plants do this.. but for us here it's a very convenient location..

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

ruud: I'm writing RI again next week to get an updated offer. As soon as it is cleared I will write you an email (you already know what I mean smile )

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

i'm also 100% for RI even though i'm not dutch. used it for the last cytown release.
Very friendly and professional correspondence, and the final product was very satisfying

Re: r.a.n.d. muzik vinyl pressing plant: any experiences?

Just a little follow on from this topic... how are you robots shipping your vinyl from the pressing plant to the distributor? And in all your experience, who ultimately should pay for this shipping?

I'm getting murdered by the costs of production and shipping in Euros (murdered as in the US/EU exchange rate) and at the end of the day it kills the extremely tight budget sad
