Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

reminds me of the guy on tapps - don't pretend to know... which i just heard today

only not as good =p

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

Heh..time to re-visit this topic...

First of all i went and saw heartbreak live last night, together with the dear manc's known as Inserted and English Electric and i thought it was a good show. Before going i had heard some tracks of teh CD, but didnt think it was amazing...but live did the trick, good sound, and the singer generally has a good presence. I can see why some would think annoying, but it wasnt to me. Id say add one more guy to the live show, wether "unplugged" or not i think it could give a good My-mine kinda lineup (i think they played justice style in one old vid too btw, hmm?). Remember that those guys back then were cheesy too and all wanted to look like Depeche mode etc...so theres a bigger discussion about realness here

Anyways...i think C. has got some really good points about what exaclty makes this "alright" compared to so many other hated things. Its not that i cant see why people wouldnt like it, but it sometimes seems very random what people gives teh ok stamp...of course the fact is also sometimes that people are exaclty NOT random, and help hype something cause its their friends and business partners etc. I cant say wether thats the case, but at least i got no stocks in heartbreak. And yeah thats why bias was also good to have around, problem was that he almost didnt see anything else besides the evil corrupt underground music mafia.

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

I'm biased so not gonna say much other than set the record straight about the metallo thing as some people here seem a little confused (perhaps understandably so)...

me and ali started using this term back in about 2002 (when we started our label Cyber Dance) to describe the music that we wanted to create, a fusion of italo and metal which of course were (and still are) two of our main obsessions in life. We felt like we shouldn't have to musically decide between them when it came to what type of records we were going to make just because that's what most other artists these days do. The media certainly didn't invent this term and let me assure everyone it has absolutely nothing to do with 'electroclash', and everything to do with italo and metal. We don't believe in hypes or media buzz words, only music itself, and that the music is good. What you call it should be an after-thought.

metallo is a word we use amongst ourselves (for a lot longer than 'electroclash' has existed) and the media have hijacked it somewhat so that lazy press-agents and lame journalists have something to fill and sell their inane articles, press releases and magazines with. If you don't like the word, don't use it. It's no problem for us either way. It's just a word that we use to describe what we're into, nothing more and nothing less. The fact remains that we're old school metallers making italo, call it whatever you like but 'metallo' sits ok with me.

65

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

of course, how else are you gonna get famous?

66

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

you are hilarious.

making italo disco and metal in a hybrid form that is incomprehensible to the mainstream for no money for over ten years in the depths of the underground never pressing more than 300 copies of a record and playing for no fees is a surefire way to all the fame, riches and girls on earth isn't it?

better to make records than waste your life sniping on forums.

67

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

please, whats so original about your music?  youre pathetic for even trying, thats whats hilarious

68

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

70

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

71

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

72

Re: Heartbreak-Lies???

sorry I haven't taken enough of an interest in you, I apologise that your ego's been let down. and yes I defend my own because I believe in them. Otherwise they wouldn't be 'my own'.
