i see it the other way around. finally the UK is not so grossly overpriced for the rest of us anymore...

Indeed, it goes both ways, in an ideal world this would balance things out, but I reckon some Euro labels and online stores will feel the pinch with UK buyers tightening their belts.
I was not joking. I mean the distribution but also the shop is running ok. I have nothing against kompakt. they don't have labels like bunker, creme etc. pp., but no shop in the world kicks out labels if they re running well! the same with a lot of us labels that they don't sell anymore. if nobody buys these records, it's completely normal to not offer them anymore. it's just the law of success. no succe3ss, no money. a lot of people become depressed, if they don't have success and that is the worst thing. also they have a lot of labels in their backcatalogue that try pushing the music forwards. when I click myself through the soundsamples @ clone, it's so boring a lot of times. styrax leaves and arne weinberg release the 150th re-re-re-re-re-emulation of the basic channel sound, bunker is all analogue stuff as it was produced in the mid90s. we had that all. no need to have it again. I haad an interesting talk to dj triple r last days and we were talking about the "good old days". he told me that if he plays an old minimalistic terrence dixon or robert hood or stuff like that people would come up to him "yaaaaaaaawn...". the dancefloor has other laws than a lot of producers today are thinking of. if there's not a noise, a scratch, a crack, a click whatever after half a minute and a lot of turns and ups and downs in a track they become bored. among us are people who find a robert hood track or an old jeff mills track or old gjax-up-beats hypnotic, but there is a new generation of people who are in their 16s til 30s and alo t of them are not into the music that is distributed by distributors like clone, boomkat etc., BUT into the sound of kompakt.
@smackos
yeah, u mean soul tower, which was closed a time, but re-opend while ago. but my fave in cologne is still a-musik, because they have the good-food.
@replicant
tripple a is a nice person, but when u speak with a person from the kompakt circle brings naturaly the conclusion that they say: this is good (what they do) and this not (what "we" do), otherwise they wouldnt do it. and that people yawn when he plays robert hood is no wonder, because he has not the audience for that stuff.
everytime i was at kompakt they throw more and more the interessting stuff out, electro, clone related stuff, experimental... last time i tried i found not only 1! interessting record at the hole(sic!) shop.
and btw i dont care that there is a generation that is into that stuff. there is also a generation that was into kirmes techno, but that makes the music not better.
.
anyway, none of these facts will ever convince me of "collecting" or "disc"jockeying mp3..
