bend sinister
totally engrossed by the progression from the more confrontational early poems to the later experimental & mystical pieces. 'Illuminations' has some fucking sublime moments in it...
^I haven't read much of his poetry, I'll have to pick up a copy...

yeah, do it! i think that the complete works would be the best shout, since his style evolves so much over such a short period of really intense output...although you could easily spend ages rereading 'Une saison en enfer' in itself. just picked up a critical biography of his by Pierre Brunel; what a fascinating life he went on to live after renouncing poetry, and crazy to think he did that at 21...
I finished Touching from a Distance by Deborah Curtis yesterday.
Maybe I should've read the book before watching Control but.. anyway I liked it.
@ Henri Puolitaival
"Maybe I should've read the book before watching Control but..!"
-> not really... doesn't make the movie any better imo!
reading right now: jaan kross - the czar's madman
just finished - Rendezvous With Rama
gonna start Tales of the Otori

Or the movie doesn't make the book any worse
Although.. naturally the book's more detailed but Anton has greatly picked up the essence of Deborah's text, and I think the movie had more depth to the story.
It's the different point of view maybe.

-> ha, ha... yeah, or that!
"Although.. naturally the book's more detailed but Anton has greatly picked up the essence of Deborah's text, and I think the movie had more depth to the story."
-> it's not the story that makes the movie bad. it's the movie itself that is bad... not authentic enough imo.
the three musketeers by dumas.
ape and essence
Forbidden Zone by whitley strieber...its embarrasingly bad but now im halway through and now treating it like it is some kind of satire although i know the man is dead serious. Just stay away from it at all costs even though its got good reviews.
I am reading Moby Dick for the first time.
Each page is a joy to read
yeah a good winter campfire book for sure, read it a few times
Well considering it is impossible to read I would have to say I am interpreting this book ...
It is an encyclopedia of sorts that describes a separate universe from the Flora and Fauna to the social structure of the higher beings of their planets. The book itself is written in one of the universe's languages that is yet to be broken. Here is a link to the e- book http://www.zshare.net/download/51206767 … us.pdf.rar - 51.66MB

so is that a language conceived of by the author? or is it based on some kind of terrestrial script? the cursive parts look like a hybrid of aramaic, latin & urdu...not as if that means much
It was created by the author, I now believe after a few hours of studying the Codex that the language is meaningless but the pictures are a satire on our world.

the pictures as satire of our times figures...but then equally so doesa meaningless language (absolutist reduction of doublespeak, spin, blahblahblah...thanks for the reply!
Good point, I hope you enjoyed the e book
anathem - neal stephenson
quite hard to follow initially - but a great read when you get into it..
antichrist
books from my own library
I forgot how good the ending is-- blaming german protestants for killing the renaissance (ie, life as it should be)
@ cebteq
"blaming german protestants for killing the renaissance"
-> hm, interesting... and why? because the protestants didn't like to have paintings in there churches or in some places they didn't even want to have a church building?
just finished the three musketeers...
right now: twenty years after (2nd part of the d'artagnan romances by dumas).
and it's strange... although it came out only one year after the first part, the language is somehow different... kind of more awkward and ponderously. so i wonder if it was really written by him, hm...
according to nietzsche because christianity was on the decline and protestants brought it back and made it more represive than ever
now reading daybreak by him
