get into a new line of work adapt!
as far as i understood it, it's more about keeping the liquidity of the economy going (ie. short term credit for businesses to function.. to keep groceries on the shelves of supermarkets etc) when that fails it stops being about politics and economy and who's right and wrong.
I think "no bailout" is an emotional reaction to a Gov't that's yanked us around and doesn't seem to care about us but cares about big biz, and that's fine, but it's not any sort of solution to the problem that is going to affect us all.
No, I totally hear what your saying, but the shitty economy hasn't effected me enough in my day-to-day life for me to base my opinion on anything other than emotion...I'm sympathetic to people's stories, but I hear mixed opinions from the people that are really suffering.
some wiseguy said the whole issue is more about the US national debt. if the lenders (i.e. China and India) for some reason lose trust in the US financial system, they will pull the plug and the US will go bankrupt overnight. and as the government has virtually no money themselves, this would mean a total collapse of US society.
i'd say the only thing that will keep the economy in the states running now is another war. like... against iran.
hasn't this worked before?
It's not capitalism that causes U.S. economy to collapse, more a succesion of really poor decisions.
China has begun cutting their credit card.
Yeah, this is being caused by numerous factors, mortgages are just one piece of it, but it's an easy thing to blame it on and it distracts people from other big issues, like offshore banks, large international commercial loans (that don't pay), predatory lending practices, deregulation, accounting and tax loopholes, subsidization of large corporate industries that don't need the money, securities, poor trading practices, U.S. companies and jobs moving overseas, lack of domestic saving and investment, dependency on foreign oil, large defense budgets, wars are expensive...
I'm so horny right now
me too
I am working on my own bail out plan, just in case...
For me the actual situation looks pretty simple.
It's exactly like when you play to Monopoly (not the synth, the game! ).
One of the players, the winner, is gathering all of the goods and all of the money.
Other players loose their goods and their money, and they got difficulties to pay.
The winner, to avoid the game to stop in a too early way, dispatches money thanks to lends, credits.
SO that they can continue buying stuff. Until... other players can't refund anymore their too numerous credits.
Then the winner retrieve in catastrophe all goods that have been bought with lended money.
But these goods don't worth anything anymore since there are nobody anymore to buy them...
Then... the game is over.
brilliant analysis, robotworks!
it's more like monopoly with the one guy stealing from the bank without anyone seeing and then you look and say "what happened to the $700, 000, 000, 000!?"
or 'rob the gullible masses and then when you are about to go bankrupt, rob them some more'
superheroes only exist in comic books.
my vote (if i had one) goes to this guy...
Toxie for President
Troma 4 life
yeah let's turn this place into tromaville!
hey, it's a low budget solution to a "very serious" crisis.
both parties has their share of dirty, swollen assholes. politicians, it's in their nature to sweep their shit under the rug when election comes around. that's why none of the real messy shit gets touched in the actual debates.
It was made a while ago, but its still very interesting and highly actual. This piece of 'what if-journalism': http://www.vpro.nl/programma/tegenlicht … /24877874/
Sorry, its a dutch documentary.
@Dez: amazing picture, someone with a coat like that deserves to be in the spotlights!
