Topic: Monitors vs. Acoustics

For a long time i'm thinking about getting new monitors, in addition to my old NS-10's.
The space i'm working in isn't treated acoustically at all. It is ±3 by 3 meter size room with window and door and big closet is covering the wall in front of the speakers. i don't think i can do much about the acoustics in that space...
what do you think? would it be smart to spend cash on monitors in such situation? How much acoustic effect on near field monitors? what the fuk do i care about acoustic in a room i'm working in for 3-4 years?
thanks

Re: Monitors vs. Acoustics

Having uncontrolled resonant frequencies means that you likely hear exaggerated bass at around 60Hz and 180Hz (the so-called "standing waves" for a 3x3m room.

This is a pretty tricky frequency area for a good mixdown. Treating your room doesn't have to cost much money... I think we've had this conversation before:

Thanks sneakthief, some issue are not covered there. how do i measure my room resonance? how do i know where to place the traps / panels?

My 8 panels cost 10€ each to make.

Then you could add some cheap corner bass-traps:
