Yes the monitor placement is complete shit on a number of levels.

I was thinking of maybe putting them in the expedit sideways on a level with my ears when I'm sitting but the speakers are too tall by about two inches.

Now I am thinking of either mounting them on either side of the mac (above the EML of course) or just above the T8 and drum machines as I use the T8 as my master keyboard. Just wondering what mounts, shelves will support the Yorkvilles. They are powered and quite heavy.

personally i'm of the school of thought that listening/mixing position should be the foremost concern in any space with everything else being placed around that.

i strongly recommend getting out of the corner, set up against a back wall at least. if you mount your monitors in the corner position you will be sitting smack center of a bass trap.

just make sure the master keyboard and everything you need to access for mixing is close by.

then maybe go about arranging all the other stuff in whatever way makes sense to you.

the rewards are noticable i assure you.

Sorry, I'm not a techy guy and it's in perfect functional shape. Was tech'd in 2007 by the previous owner. I'd be scare as shit to open it. Maybe hit up George Mattson or Doug Slocum of SSL. Doug used to work for EML back in the day. Or someone like REwire over at Muff's.

I use headphones 99.99% of the time so it hasn't been a big concern to me but when it's time to make the gold records I will make it more of a priority for sure. Position is laughably bad right now.
