Cheap analog studiomixer suggestions?

Hi,

I'm currently using a battered, first generation 1604 VLZ. I'm not too happy about the sound, but it works.

I'm running out of channels though, so I'm looking to upgrade to 24 channels, and preferably something with a little more warmth and character. My budget being limited, I don't see a lot of options outside of the obvious behringer semi-disposable crap.

One thing I was looking at is a Hill Audio Remix 24:8:16:2 for €500. I've owned a smaller 8-channel Hill mixer which had very nice preamps but was ultimately too noisy and too limited in the EQ section to be of use, so I have mixed feelings about this. Anyone used it?
