paul I have a numark portable one, i quite like it but have no use for it, cool cause it's got 33 45 nd 78
u can have it for a fair price if you need it, or borrow it if it's for a one off fair

that's why it's called 'the vinyl killer'
on topic:
i really like the numark pt-1
it sounds surprisingly good on my Senheiser HD-25. I would almost recommend it as a low budget turntable for the living room.
I can't compare it with the vestax (never used it) but a main advantage is that the numark fits exactly in a record bag.
on the last fair i saw someone with a white version and the owner told me it had a USB interface for direct digital transfer.
(Ion USB turntable) apparently they go for really cheap

I just ordered and received this one from here:

It's 69 euro including shipping within Benelux.
It seems to be a good thing for what it is: a portable turntable to check records on fairs, fleamarkets etc. The sound, while listening through headphones, seems to be quite ok. I don't think I'm gonna use the usb option though.
Can't wait to the next Utrecht fair!
I can vouch for the Numark. It's decent enough if all you need it for is checking vinyl at fairs or charity shops. I have used it as a main turntable hooked up to an amp. Does the job fine. I don't think the needle is particularly high quality though, so vinyl wear may be an issue for daily listening purposes. Definitely no scratching! The Vestax is much prettier, but more or less the same bag as the Numark, plus more pricey.
The best portable ever in my opinion is the Columbia GP-3 which is hella hard to find nowadays. But you can hang it on the wall or carry it around while it plays a record. Very silly.
Oh, also, the Ion and Numark decks are identical except for the USB thing. Ion is the 'tech' branch of Numark.
