Buying an analog desk, need help! (Page 1 of 2)

Prices are imo to high.
I would pay 2/3 of the asking prices honestly.
And i'd go for the soundcraft.

1200 - 1500 should be possible.
2/3 was a bot to optimistic maybe but 1700 is really to much.
People don't sell their desk that easy anymore.

Get a Toft ATB32 (if you got the money ofc, not cheap this one, but designed by former Trident engineers)

But thats me, i am allergic to servicing gear...

Ooow the Soundcraft needs lot of service then it's worth less as 1200 imo.

Don't know, for the Soundcraft, it's still a lot of money for something that isn't completely working. I know it's a 20 years old, but also look at the working parts, they're also 20 years of age and how long would they last.. And also keep in mind the service costs, if you could find someone who could service it in a decent way..

There is a Soundcraft 1624 in my city too and I am really thinking about it. Seems a little less pimped up than yours though.

And there's a guy at a used instrument store with a Delta SR 32 for $800. But I am just reticent as it looks kind of junky.

Yeah, I don't know how I can walk away from that Soundcraft. It seems like an amazing deal. The guy emailed me back tonight and seemed like a really good guy too and told me to make an offer so maybe I can get it for even less. Big old boards are just hard to get rid of, I guess. It's been up here for a month and a half.

Only thing is I would for sure have to sell my Prophet T8 and adjust some layout to make room. Which is fine. I could just use the T8 money to buy more modular or whatever.

I think I will have to do it.

Plikes save your monney and keep your eyes open for a mci desk man.
They pop up there once a while a nice 400 series desk could be find for around that price with some luck and patience.

I know few consoles for sell!!.. here in Zagreb studiomaster P7 32 ch, in italy its 24 ch soundcraft 600 series, Mackie 32-8 8 BUS in Zagreb...

the floating subgroup system is the best invention since sliced bread. you can send the combined outputs of any channel to any other channel. if you dont need subgroups, you dont use it and you have all channels available. if you do, you use whatever you want, and dont have 4 or 8 channels that are never used because you only use 2 or 4 subgroups. its so brilliant in its simplicity.
i never use subs for my mixes, but i do for my radio shows. signal goed to 2 channels of the mixer, whicxh sends it to 6 subgroups connected to the soundcard to send it to the ifmx and to record it on the computer from another input.

My first mixer was from Aries. It was a lot smaller than this one, and from the looks of it a lot older too, so I reckon they won't compare. However for what it's worth, it sounded rather good and it was well build. But it's always a bit of a gamble, like all mixers of age it will likely have some issues that you might or might not be able to live with. Or even deal with, as it is a rather unknown brand so servicing it might get tricky. So I guess it depends on the state, the price and lost but not least how you like the sound...

Activating this old thread since nothing has pretty much changed regarding my situation,
D&R is gone and A&H guy made a dick out of himself by not answering his phone after we arranged our meeting and me traveling 250km just to meet him.

So I guess the Soundcraft is now still active (I hope), and now I have an offer for a Studiomaster Series II 32ch with multicores and patchbay and custom meterbridge, but has not been plugged in for a few years and probably needs service.
How much is it worth and is it worth the hassle at all? The seller asks 1000 eur for the desk, 1200 eur for desk + multicores and patchbay, and 1500 eur if his technician gives it a refurbishment.
