I once read an interesting story about some australian dudes that developed a more or less operational ramjet for only a fraction of the budget the americans used or something....maybe you can use that. I remember the thing looked pretty impressive.

Another angle would be how the experience of flying might change, i.e. being able to use you mobile phone

Probably good to cover the environmental impact of all of this too
