Topic: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

I recently listened to both Alpha Synthauri and Vega Synthauri by Donna Laser (Orchestra) and I extremely liked the combination of violin sounds with synths. I won't describe it further, here are links for those who don't know it:

I usually explore music by myself, but since I did not manage to find anything quite similar to that, I was hoping you guys might know more.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps?

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

Ah, yes, most certainly. Thanks.

Maybe I sounded too narrow, but just to make it clear - it doesn't have to be a combination of orchestral instruments and synths at the same time, all I am looking for is the same melancholic feeling which they seem to produce in certain elaborations.

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

I also had to think of Rondo Veneziano at first smile great track By the way and nice video.

Maybe you mean something like this?:

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

^^ Yeah, good one (I think).

Is there a thing such as "symphonic italo"? smile

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

@narcisco.

You made me think about this one (it was on your wantlist ;-) but it's also quite "symphonic":

The instrumental is more suitable I think.

Somehow reminicent to Vega Synthauri:

Personal favourite also.

maybe this record: http://www.discogs.com/Accademia-Tenere … se/2159507
it has some elements of italo and classical music.

also the Kroma - "Classics in Computer" LP
btw is this really the same 'Kroma' as "Sexy Films"??? I have some doubts.

No, it's not. The Classics in Computer is classical themes played with synthesizers while Kroma - Sexy Films is wavey italo.

Edit: found out why. Classics in Computer is actually by I Kroma. The sleeve says Kroma but the label I Kroma. Changed it in discogs:

Don't think that I Kroma and Kroma have something to do with eachother. At least, looking at the credits available to me.

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

You're welcome. smile

Good idea to come up with this topic. Never thought of how classical and (italo)disco influence eachother. But they actually do from time to time. I think you'll find a lot of that stuff in the cosmic corner or with synthesizer-wizards like Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, to name two heavyweights. This one also crossed my mind though it's mere a discotranslation of the Bolero:

I'll try to think of some others.

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

@Scarface
I had to think of this other Bolero version:

This French guy combined classical stuff with electronic music, it's a bit on the edge of kitsch sometime, but I enjoy it. He cites classical composers like Bach and Beethoven. Comparable to Rondo Veneziano I guess.
Some songs of his To Be Or Not album:

Just found this one, had to share it with you; sorts of fits within the concept.

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

Never gave this later CD by Franko Scopinich much attention but it's actually quite nice and recommended if you're into the combi classical/electronic:

Re: I'd like to hear some recommendations.

I remembered this topic after watching The Long Good Friday and hearing an amazing soundtrack by Francis Monkman; highly recommended and kind of fits within the already mentioned tracks.

Looking forward to hearing more.
