Topic: Midi connections help

Sound card:     Focusrite 6 usb ( midi in/out )

Midi keyboard controller: Edirol pcr 300 ( midi in/out )

Synthesizer: Yamaha dx7 IID ( midi in/thru/out )

i would also like to play my vsts on dx7...since it has 61 keys.

i have to know the connections in between ( and the number of cables i need )...im a noob in this sort of connections.

you need to know the channel that the dx7 midi output is set to (channel 1 tends to be the default), have a cable connecting the midi out of the dx7 to the midi in of the focusrite

from that point on your connectivity depends on the midi preferences of the daw or standalone interface of the vsti, but what would generally be most important is to select only the focusrite's midi as input, and indicate channel one if necessary

in fruityloops and ableton there is a 'led' that blinks when it is receiving midi input

remember to turn the local control off when using it as a master keyboard
