Topic: KRK rockets?

Desperately need to get myself some moniters, heard these were good value (the lower range). Seem some on ebay quite reasonably priced. Really dont want to spend more that 150-200 on a pair of powered monitors. Aware of previous threads on the topic but dont recall these being discussed much...

Thanks.

Re: KRK rockets?

In that range you won't find much else so there's not much to discuss. They do their job fine enough considering their price, but so do their competitors.

Re: KRK rockets?

Ok. So any differences to alesis and m-audio models in that range are marginal, just get the best deal i can.

Re: KRK rockets?

check out this thread, some people (incl. myself) commented on the KRKs there

Re: KRK rockets?

on a side note to this, the m-audios can have some sort of issue with breaking i believe due to a faulty capacitor. not sure if it's most models or some, but something to consider. i know some folks prefer non-powered monitors for reasons along this line, but i don't know the price differences to compare.

worship the potentiometer.

Re: KRK rockets?

damn forum, just lost my reply. And again...

Thanks for the input.

@zeha, cheers for digging that out, think i'd seen that before but didnt realise many of those models were nw considerably cheaper, or available second hand in my price range.

@screen... will bear that in mind, i'd guess atcive ones will also have a higher noise floor(?).  Not too worried about having to replace a capacitor along the line if needs be.

Impressed by the reviews of adam speakers and soundcraft ones. Anyone know what the adam ax3 and ax5's are like?

And copy before clicking...

Re: KRK rockets?

alesis m1 active is something to consider for that price, at least you will have a decent sized driver. the small diameter of the sub ax7's will not be so cool for the lower freq's.

Re: KRK rockets?

KRK rockit 6 here..
i got them after reading that aforementionned thread and i'm very very satisfied..

Re: KRK rockets?

I owned a pair of RP5's for a couple of years. These series really 'do the job' considering that kind of price categories.
Really liked the lower end boost and the honesty of these speakers.

But why not spend a few bucks more and trying it a bit more 'higher end'..?

I now use a pair of these

These are actually passive, but don't let that fool you....
