this stuff sounds to me like bleached dirty south instrumentals with a bit of pop/wave aesthetic and some italian horror/legowelt influences ........
by the way lots of dirty south stuff had this goth/dark/sinister atmosphere ........
the good thing is that this stuff is something new refreshing and different and ...... i think i like it

Seems to be the common thing, though most of the (half decent) articles on this has been more based around DJ Screw's legacy and what it has lead to. The other thing I guess is the hip hop guys live in mansions, I very much doubt ANYONE is getting rich off this (though I heard Balam Acab has been used for a new L'Oreal commercial with Beyonce in it... would have been a few thousand I guess)

there's all this thing called chill wave, they probably play it at the dayclubs in vegas. Goes down well with a pina colada.

thats interesting I've never heard anything but good things about Phantasma Disques, I know there was a think with Disaro Records recently where a lot of people never received the White Ring 12". Can you elaborate?
