German movies are generally overrated, but we really don't make any good ones :-(
How German!
Fight Club. what a bunch of macho-pseudo-intellectual rubbish!
Dude it has Brad Pitt. It's not worth mentioning it ^^
I think Scarface is overrated.
I was just thinking this reading through the thread. Never liked it myself either, just find it all a bit over the top tbh. To each their own I guess. It's a shame because I'm huge fan of Pacino but I find his overacting during the last 1/2 hour almost unbearable. Maybe that's the point though? It just makes me cringe.
Substandard Moroder soundtrack too imho.
The movie is not too bad, but not the best ever. Thing is; all little wannabee gangsta's want to be Tony Montana. Even today!
Substandard Moroder soundtrack too imho.
Tony's Theme - Theme from Scarface substandard?????????????????????????????????
You belearic hippie!
You belearic hippie!
Hehe, I'm willing to have my arm twisted about that, I take it you like it then? Any particular reason? what's the best track?
Just "Tony's Theme"?
and that peruvian anflute track or whatever it is, that one is the jam...cause its the same for 3 minutes or something.
And ofcourse PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

que? there are plenty of good german films, e.g. Das Boot, Der Untergang, most of Werner Herzog's films.
okay, "Der Untergang" was clearly standing out in last years, but besides there was not much in recent years, while the critics keep praising young crap like "Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei" or German "Histopics" about WWII.
Herzog/Kinski was great, also some 60ties crime (like Edgar Wallace) and Karl May movies (Winnetou), Fassbender had good ideas, but most of his movies are actually quite boring. Anyway this is long ago.
Substandard Moroder soundtrack too imho.
sorry dude, I know its your opinion but I love the scarface soundtrack...

Don't apologise meschi, I'm perfectly capable of being wrong every now and then. It's a human trait I've picked up along the way.
Before this gets out of hand, Robots - I hereby promise to purchase the Scarface soundtrack asap!
I'll stick to my guns about the film though.
My little pony - the movie
It wasnt what I hoped it would be..
dunno if that one got much critical acclaim, heh
"As with various other films of the 1980s designed to promote toy lines, My Little Pony was not well-received among critics..." : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Little_Pony:_The_Movie
edit : They say as a cultural reference : "In the Beginning of the Movie Baby Lickity Split tells the pink dragon playing the
piano, "Play it again, Spike," a reference to the 1942 film Casablanca.
In the movie, it s "play it again Sam ". You know, the belgium electro label. Do you know why these Words are important ?
hahahahaha
It was a pretty lame remark I put and it surely didnt get any good reviews, but stil it wasnt what I hoped for...
Pias was a distribution label.
Dont know but please inform Me about the importance of these words
Brazil anyone? Maybe not rubbish but I thought it was a fail nonetheless.

I don 't know the importance of these words, that s why I asked.
dont know either, but they do sound cool
I got an explanation :
In 1982, Kenny GATES, a student went to the "Casablanca Moon Record Shop" a record shop in Belgium, owner was Michel LAMBOT. The two guys, music lovers, created a society for production, distribution and promotion for new music. the society is called Play It Again Sam, from Casablanca of Michael Curtiz.
casablanca moon record shop = play it again sam.
Brazil anyone? Maybe not rubbish but I thought it was a fail nonetheless.
Heathen !
Gilliam is the man.
Overrated is anything based on CGI battles disasters etc fuckin dull.
Hey dont hate on my litle pony the movie, i watched that religiously as a kid (should that be filed undr guilty pleasures?) . Oh well id probably hate it if i saw it today.
Mushaden. definetely with you about brazil, i never understood the praise of it, i tried watching it 3 times with years apart, and it doesnt grow on me. Gilliam is like 50-50 with movies, some are great, some are just ok. Brazil is the worst ive seen so far.
It is a brilliant satire. So many layers and strong ideas.
