Not long since Biden stepped down and it feels like the democrats where caught off guard about the upcoming election. Not an easy task for Kamala, and perhaps the Democrats would have needed a candidate with more 'rock star personality' and 'weight' to go against Donald.
Four years of his manner is one thing, tiresome but don't care. What I'm really concerned for is the support of Ukraine. Keeping my fingers crossed they wont be sold out by US the coming days... sigh

Ukraine is a weird deal, people in the USA, just like everywhere else get tired quickly because of the news cycle.. Ukraine is so far away from USA, and when it started people were all in, flags everywhere, 'slava ukraini' posting, etc..
But it can only work for so long, so many distractions since then, and since Russia is not at our door the people dont care.. Also USA infrastructure is crumbling, all our institutions seem underfunded, future seems more doubtful than ever with trump or kamala, shit is bleak. Its hard to ask the taxpayer to keep sending money to Ukraine when everything is shit.
I think also there are a lot of people that realize that this is just another proxy war fought with ukrainian blood. hundreds of thousands of young men dont need to die in ukraine and russia anymore. It is not ideal but I dont think Ukraine can keep this going, and its too risky for everyone else to get into a hot war. I think it is the end of pax americana

Tbh I wonder if this situation is the beginning of a bigger war. If Donald gives the green light I think it would be hard for Putin not to cease this window of opportunity to break up Nato.
It's understandable if average Joe in the middle of Kansas is more concerned about crumbling infrastructure then he is for the geopolitical situation, and it is of course up to US to choose to focus on fixing roads etc instead. But that ain't what have happen the last couple of weeks. What have happen is that your president have started to swing at your long time friends, your neighbours and your own allies, while at the same time getting in bed with Putin. It's absolutely mind blowing. I would image both Democrats and Republicans alike didn't believe their ears when Donald blamed the war on Ukraine?
Nah, i wouldn't call this a proxy war. USA doesn't want war with Russia, Europe doesn't war with Russia, and Ukraine doesn't war with Russia. It's only Putin and his goons that wants war. To send aid and help isn't to wage proxy war.
Yes no one need to die anymore if Putin calls for peace and instead e.g focused on lifting the Russian people up from it's impoverishment. But Putin want doesn't peace nor does he care about his own population.

Have you seen the state of the UK? our roads our National health service have been stripped by decades of underfunding, mismanagement and 'austerity'(all to line the pockets of the elites)...and while the growth of right wing populism is there(hello Brexit)......our country is a fail state and yet we haven't turned into a full on fascist country, unlike the US. This is not an excuse.
And yet our righteous support of Ukraine against Russia tyranny is unwavering as a country,...left or right, the UK stands behind Ukraine all the way.
