Re: New COCKpits & GearPics
new space. in the process of plugging stuff in now.
can't see well in this webcam pic, but it is in a cellar room, so the ceiling has a nice curve to it.

This is a very nice working Environment, everything is reachable in radias. If you had a chair with wheels you can glide to stuff with little effort.

yup, chair has wheels
Looking nice. So is the JX8P the master keyboard?
as always... until I get the Kawai K5000 or something similar. Or an EPS16+.. he he
new overview pic. not everything is on it..
looks cool. lots of room when you're not sitting in the middle of it.
Now the obligatory gear-spotting question, what's under the drumtrax?
Rude! It actually... it... it actually looks... bright! Did you paint or is that the flashlight?
So you finished work on the Studer?
Would love to have the axxe,.. but the odyssey is no 1 on my list. modulation modulation modula...
Rude, what's your opinion on them there spirit speakers, as i have them myself, and have nothing to judge them by, apart from my ears. i don't think the are awful, but i have heard them referenced as absolute poo's.

a yamaha CS10(??) with the keyboard cut off... :-)
yep, its the only rackmount cs10 in the world.. i didn't do this btw, but it was a free gift, so hey..
brian: i think its a combination of the flash and the white walls.. yeah, they used toi be coloured but you havent been here in a long time.. the studer is a work in progress. it works good now, but the power supply definitely needs recapping, and it needs to be adjusted to record industry standards still.
i personally like the spirits a lot, but as with any monitors, you have to get to know them. for me, they give a pretty accurate picture of what i do and if i play my records in other places i don't hear weird things, so i guess theyre okay. the combination with a luxman amp also helps.
i'm actually thinking of selling the axxe, not because of the money, but the room.. when that ds-2 from damir arrives, i'm going to be in serious trouble here..
Rude; I'm looking for a new amplifier for studio monitoring. What Luxman's can you recommend? or other brands?
I have the same absolutes as you. Like em. I have a crappy 90ies Sony amp.
There is a weird resonating noise if I listen to synths. Even when the volumes are low (on the synth, the gain on audio interface and on tha amp.)
When I listen to my tracks at a friends house, all is nice and clear.
Is this my 90ies Sony amp?
one way to find out: get another amp, maybe borrow one from somebody? get one at the kringloop? it sounds too vague to definitely point to one thing immediately. if it doesn't show up on recordings, its either amp or speakers. or check with headphones if it's still there.
amps are a ''wespennest''.. you want a natural sounding amp, preferrably one that has an eq bypass (on my luxman its called 'line straight'. all better brands are good.. luxman, i had an onkyo for a loong time, rotel, marantz.. you can either buy a new one, or a vintage one.. i know some people that use 70's rotels for instance. i have an old b&o for backup.. it also depends on your budget of course. in kringloopwinkels you can also find old pioneers or other higher end models from big brands that can be good.. check some hifi forums maybe?
thanks Rude, I will look into it. First try another amp.
@rude66, nice new set up, i see the studer fits in nicely! is that the xoxbox down in the lower left?
@meschi, very cool layout man, i really dig those Slabs posters too!
Nice one rude! everything fits again?
I made a difference between studio and playing records:

It's much more relaxing to play some vinyl if you're not distracted by blinking lights and email-sounds
baz: yeah, it fit.. until the crumar ds2 arrived and i got mty mono/poly back..
this is how it looks now, and it will stay that way for a while.. all machines present, and some new desk material, also making it a bit lighter. oh, and like baz i cleaned up a little..
a left-handed fretless jazz bass looks really uncommon to me
I"ll cook yoiu something!
mono: nice man! ready for gigs and everything!
deutschmark: yes, it is.. its not a real one, but a johnson, a chinese knockoff copy thats actually pretty good once its set up right. i always wanted a fretless but i'm lefthanded, so i was really surprised to find this on ebay for under 150 euro. i would have liked a 5 or 6 string, but i figured that's stretching it a bit in rarity on a budget..
