You should put an eagle and a sunset behind it like this

Thanx guys,
I feel like home already smile
Finally a community where people love synths AND share my musical taste.
Sometimes you feel pretty isolated if you are not listening to crappy pop music or superfancy minimal-whatever stuff.

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

Nice gear Check, what do you use for drums?

How's the memory boy?

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

Thx Tony,

For Drums I only use samples so far. You can find some decent stuff of classic drum machines for free on the web.
The G2 can make some real good 808 sounds too BTW.
I hope to get a real 808 some day.
Things will hopefully get better when I've finished my study this year.

I only got the Memory Boy since December and I don't have much time to play around right now.
But I tink it's great. I really like the sound especially with a lot of feedback. It's a good counterfeit to all the digital effects.
I couldn't afford a Memory Man so I got the Boy. So far I don't regret it.

Cheers,

Welcome to the Future...

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

trawling tthis thread to see how high peeps have monitors placed... because i am setting up anew, and they're gonna have to be up quite high, like above head level standing up (tannoy reveal passives)

should i angle them down from this height?

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

monitors should be on ear level. and even then a few centimeters can make all the difference. if they are wrong, you loose bass..big time. not sure if angling down will prevent that..

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

In my personal experience of having set up some recording studios in the past (around 10, half of them quite big, one
of them even for orchestral works!), all the people that were doing the sound architecture design would agree on the
fact that for optimal reference listening the center of the cone must be leveled with the center of your ear (height
wise). Then you have be in the center of the "imaginary sound triangle", in front of the speaker...

Of course, your mileage may vary, but this is the rule of thumb for me.

As well, you can also find the right position for you by analyzing the outcome of a recording with Neumann's
KU100, if you have one to borrow smile

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

the Tannoys come with a quite informative manual, and that is what it says there too. But I guess I am wondering what is acceptable in practice.
In the end, my studio is so cluttered, if they will be lower, at ear height, then I will have much reflections
