Topic: Christmas Shopping

Right... Christmas shopping in London is fucking ridiculous...! oxford street is chaos and this is what I now have to deal with after work today.

Im gonna knock back a quick pint or two first... it always seems easier half cut. Makes movements and decisions quicker and easier...

There really cant be anywhere worse to shop than london central can there?

for sure, shopping there's hell...but staying round there is far worse. A couple of years back I stayed in university halls of residence on North Row, runs parallel to Oxford St. near the Marble Arch end, on the Mayfair side. Generally it wasn't too unbearable, but December was fucking hellish. try going out the front door at weekends and you just got sucked into the heaving mass of pushy bastards. seemed a popular time of year for foreign school-groups to come and stand around blocking every cunt's way as well mad

Re: Christmas Shopping

the horror that corses through my vains at the thought. smile

Re: Christmas Shopping

totally man. still, at least once the shops closed there weren't too many casualties stumbling around. And though it did get on my tits a lot, i'd still be happier negotiating it that some desolate outpost a la brent cross/braehead etc. that shit is actual brain damage

Re: Christmas Shopping

granted zurich is minuscule compared to london the pre-christmas shopping mania is just as bad. i used to live smack in the middle of the center where half of the country must be going shopping these days. it was a fight every night to get home. now i live in an area not too far from the center but with none of the usual shops that attract large crowds. i really like it there, even more so at this time of the year.

Re: Christmas Shopping

I suppose, its all about concentrated chaos.

wish me luck.

Re: Christmas Shopping

I think christmas shopping is a bitch no matter where you are. Went to town to buy some records the other day. The moment i got off the metro, it was like standing in one big line going nowhere. Oslo, even though it's a small city compaired to London, is completely crammed with people this time of year. Man, I hate christmas...

Re: Christmas Shopping

I f*ing hate christmas shopping. I have 7 nieces and nephews, 4 brothers and sisters, cousins etc. so I have to buy loads of presents. I just try and do it all in a couple of hours in as few places as possible - books and dvds all the way and plastic made-in-china crap for the nieces and nephews who get so many presents anyway they take one look at whatever I've bought them then move on to the next one, like hungry wolves. Anyway it'll all soon be over. smile

Re: Christmas Shopping

Re: Christmas Shopping

I hate christmas shopping too, I wish I didn't have to partake. Everyone is getting gift cards or champagne...

Re: Christmas Shopping

no christmas shopping with me. it is much nicer if you walk along the street and watch the craze with some nice music in the ears. this year I prefer the relaxed way. I said to my family and they are fine with it...

Re: Christmas Shopping

Xmas shopping in the city is like walking through the inner regions of hell itself. I spent two saturdays getting all the stuff, and that was at the beginning of this month. Apart from the fact that I feel like a  'fucking consumer', it also brought me a splitting headache and stress. God damn it.

I decided today that since the stock market is so low, I will buy stock in companies that I think will rebound and give them away as stocking stuffers instead of lottery tickets.

DIY presents !
I just finished an anthology of house music for my cousin, recording vinyls on .wav all day long, and made a nice CD cover.
My mom will get one of my new picture in a large framed print
Olive oil and wine for paternal familly (kind of present that climax people from Paris)
And for the other, internet shopping was the solution
