sounds great looking forward to see what you end up with
I've spent some weeks playing with synthmaker (http://www.synthmaker.co.uk) and found it very nice as a IDE, has very powerful modules and a good community behind, it lets you focus on the UI / DSP side of things without having to mess with Steinberg VST SDK and C++ in general. I'd say great for prototyping and not only.
But nowadays I'm totally into monome interacting max/MSP machines (http://monome.org), as it totally changed the meaning of the word "sequencer" to me.
yes synthmaker looks good, have to try it out.
I still prefer to cut myself with the PCB cutter and to burn myself with the soldering iron
Since I work with computers all the day long, I prefer to do my things in a HW way when I am home...
But I really like that somebody spins their wheels on software DIY, it is still something very interesting
that can lead to incredible results...

I also have Reaktor but have in no way made it to the level where I can build my own shit but I think the possibility that you CAN do so is fuckin ACE!
Looking forward to see what you make too, Biotek.
i messed around with PureData this free Max/Msp clone thingy for a while. but i just made some kind of waveform generators based on additive synthesis wich i then processed through an external filter, not really complete synth programs... i'm also more the hardware knob tweaker type of guy
ui... looks great! i did look at that too, but there where no more pcb's i believe...
btw, theres also a thread for hardware diy here:
deleted
i did few projects with Max/MSP but more installation kind of projects
not pure sounds or synth.
i really like the max way although i have a lot more to learn.
as for hardware DIY, it always seems more interesting
i read that building distortion is easy and a good starting point, is it?
where / how should i start?
biotek, can you post some infos on the sdk?
http://www.steinberg.net/en/company/3rd … loper.html
you can download the sdk from here. the latest version seems to be unavailable though for some reason..
I put together some sort of string reverb vst..

General question to all the DIYer's out there...
what do you think the best DIY VCO is?
I'm curious
try out a bunch and see what you like?
